Retail and technology are the best team – 3 innovations from CES 2025 that we should know

We recently returned from the ICE fair, where the world of retail and cash management left us speechless. But you know what? We are true CES, the Consumer Electronics Show. For those of you who don't know it, CES It's like the Coachella of technology: the place where the big brands and the most innovative startups come together to show the world what's to come.

From revolutionary gadgets to solutions that promise to change the world (literally), CES is the perfect showcase to understand where innovation is going. And although we are dedicated to developing cash management software, we can't help but get excited about every technological advance we see.

Because the future is built with code, but also with a lot of imagination!

So, after enjoying the technological display at ICE, we have put on our futurists' glasses to analyze the highlights of CES. What has impacted us the most? What innovations do we think are going to change the game in the coming years?

Let's get to it!

1. Samsung's extendable screen: the future of physical stores?

Imagine walking into a store and, instead of seeing static posters or traditional screens, you find a screen that extends, folds and adapts like paper. That's exactly what Samsung Electronics presented at CES with its extendable and flexible display. Not only is this technology fascinating for its futuristic design, but it also has the potential to completely change the way we interact with products in retail.

How could it benefit the sector? Here are some ideas:

  • Dynamic and personalized spaces: Imagine screens that extend to show promotions, explanatory videos or even product tutorials in real time. They could adapt to the available space, creating immersive and engaging experiences for customers.
  • Unique interaction with products: These screens could be integrated into counters or shelves, allowing customers to “pull up” additional information about a product by simply touching the screen. Do you want to know more about that dress? Extend the screen and discover its history, materials or recommended combinations.
  • Advertising that comes to life: Instead of fixed signs, stores could use these screens to display ads that adapt to audiences in real time. For example, if you detect that the majority of customers are young, you could show promotions aimed at that segment.
  • Gamified Shopping Experiences: What if flexible displays allowed customers to “play” with products? For example, in a clothing store, they could display a screen to mix and match clothes virtually before trying them on.

2. LG T-OLED refrigerators: the future of supermarkets

Can you imagine walking down the aisle of a supermarket and coming across a refrigerator that not only displays the products, but also interacts with you? That's exactly what LG Electronics you have achieved with its T-OLED technology, which combines an InstaView panel (which allows you to see through the refrigerator) and a transparent touch screen on the other side. This refrigerator is not only an appliance, it is an interactive experience that could completely change the way we shop in supermarkets

How could it impact the supermarket sector?

  • Intelligent product display: Imagine refrigerators in supermarkets that, thanks to the InstaView panel, allow customers to see the products without having to open the doors. This not only reduces cold loss, but also makes the shopping experience faster and more efficient.
  • Interaction with customers: The transparent touch screen could show detailed information about the products, such as origin, ingredients, promotions or even recipes that include the foods you are viewing. Don't know what to have for dinner? The refrigerator suggests a recipe with the ingredients in front of you.
  • Gamification and dynamic advertising: Supermarkets could use these screens to create interactive experiences, such as games for children, contests or personalized promotions. For example, if it detects that you are looking at vegan products, it could show you special offers in that category.
  • Integration with management systems: This is where our technological mind gets excited. These refrigerators could connect with inventory and sales management systems, allowing supermarkets to monitor in real time which products are being viewed the most, which are about to be sold out, or which need to be promoted.
  • Sustainability and efficiency: By reducing the need to open refrigerator doors, this technology not only saves energy, but also helps keep products fresher for longer, reducing food waste.

3. The OMNIA health mirror: your pharmacy at home

Can you imagine having a mirror at home that not only tells you how your clothes fit, but also gives you a complete report on your health? That's exactly what OMNIA presented at CES with its AI-powered 360° body scan health mirror. This device not only measures your weight, it also scans your heart, analyzes your metabolic health, and gives you personalized recommendations. It sounds like science fiction, but it is a reality that could revolutionize the health sector and, in particular, the world of pharmacies.

How could it impact the pharmacy sector?

  • Automation of basic diagnoses: This mirror could become a key tool in pharmacies, allowing customers to perform quick checkups and obtain initial recommendations before consulting with a professional. Imagine arriving at a pharmacy, getting scanned in a matter of minutes, and receiving suggestions about supplements, medications, or lifestyle changes.
  • Integration with management systems: This is where our technological mind gets excited. This device could connect with sales and inventory management systems, allowing pharmacies to offer personalized products based on scan results. For example, if the mirror detects a vitamin D deficiency, the system could automatically suggest supplements available in the store.
  • Customer loyalty: By offering such an innovative and useful experience, pharmacies could differentiate themselves from the competition and build customer loyalty. This mirror would not only be a product, but a service that adds value to the visit to the pharmacy.
  • Preventive health and monitoring: The OMNIA mirror not only serves for specific diagnoses, but could also store historical data of users, allowing continuous monitoring of their health. This would be especially useful for people with chronic conditions or who need to monitor their progress over time.

CES Innovation Awards®: Innovation Highlights in 2025

One of the highlights of CES is, without a doubt, the CES Innovation Awards®, where the most revolutionary products and technologies of the year are recognized. At the CES 2025, the awards showcase was a mandatory stop for all technology lovers, and these three products left us speechless:

1. AI Doc: Female cancer diagnosis and prediction platform with AI

Developed by MTS Company CO., LTD., this winner in the category of Artificial Intelligence is an advance that could save lives. The AI Doc platform includes two key applications:

  • Mobile APP for cervical cancer: A solution that allows cervical cancer to be diagnosed in real time using images taken with a mobile phone. The most impressive thing is that it combines artificial intelligence with secondary interpretation by expert gynecologists, bringing top-notch medical services to areas with limited infrastructure. Additionally, it uses augmented reality (AR) technology to guide biopsies and treatments with millimeter precision.
  • PC APP for diagnosis and prediction of female cancer: This application allows gynecologists to perform remote diagnoses and analyze pathological indicators of cancers such as breast, cervix and uterine fibroids. It also predicts prognoses, such as lymphatic metastasis in breast cancer, something that even pathologists cannot do manually.

A tool with enormous social impact, especially in regions with limited access to advanced medical services.

2. DotDot: Shared WiFi for smart cities

Winner in the category of Smart Cities, DotDot is an ingenious solution to democratize internet access. It consists of a portable device ( #dot ) that connects to a smartphone hotspot and allows users to exchange their excess GB of data anonymously.

  • How works: Sellers (called #doters ) buy the device and sell their leftover GB. Buyers ( #dotees ) only need a smartphone to connect to the WiFi network created by a nearby #doter and buy GB on demand, without the need for subscriptions.

A brilliant idea to build more connected and inclusive cities!

3. 3D visualization of X-ray images and visibility improvement

Developed by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, this winning product in the Artificial Intelligence category combines two impressive technologies:

  • Transforming 2D to 3D Images: Uses deep learning to convert X-ray images into high-resolution 3D visualizations. This is especially useful in hospitals that do not have advanced equipment such as tomographs (CT), allowing for more accurate and accessible diagnoses.
  • Improved visibility in adverse conditions: This technology can also improve image clarity in extreme situations, such as fog, rain, sand storms or even underwater. This not only helps in preventing accidents but also allows for faster responses in emergency situations.

Both technologies have a humanitarian focus, demonstrating that innovation can save lives and improve the quality of medical and security services.
